World Ocean Day is celebrated every year on June 8 and it’s all about collaborative conservation. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to head down to Fisherman’s Wharf for our 12th annual World Ocean Day celebrations on Sunday, May 31st!
This educational, fun, free, family-friendly event brings hundreds of people to Fisherman’s Wharf to check out all things ocean-related, including live divers, touch tanks, crafts, watershed models and boats to explore including fishing and research vessels!
What started as a small gathering with divers and a few local conservation groups has grown into a large yearly event that includes over 30 different organizations. The event is organized by Eagle Wing Tours and the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority.
We’re very excited to welcome everyone for our 12th annual World Ocean Day celebrations at Fisherman’s Wharf! You can learn all about the many different local organizations making a difference in education, conservation and research in the Salish Sea and beyond.

And don’t forget that there are plenty of other things to do and see while you’re at Fisherman’s Wharf. This colourful waterfront community includes a multitude of outdoor eateries and ecotourism activities including kayaking and whale watching!
But wait, there’s more! There’s so much to learn about the ocean that we’ve expanded to a whole week of festivities!
Ocean Week Victoria runs May 30th – June 8th, 2026 and is a volunteer collaboration among businesses, non-profits, scientists, educators, artists and others to help people learn and care about their big blue back yard. Events include educational and recreational activities that explore and interact with the ocean.
There is an activity calendar of in-person and virtual events, fun activities and resources for all ages. There are plenty of opportunities for you and your family to get involved!
Ocean awareness is growing! Ocean Week Canada is a coast-to-coast, 10-day celebration of ocean events, learning and engagement. This national event recognizes the importance of the ocean in our daily lives, and how local waterways connect us all with the ocean.
