Friday May 27th 10am whale watching tour
A bit chilly this morning, but the forecast is favorable! The day was filled with Pacific Harbour Seals & a Bald Eagle @ Trial Island, some history about the Victoria Golf Course and some great scenery. We sped off towards Henry Island Near San Juan Island and stopped to view a Bald Eagles nest with a female present overlooking Haro Strait. Just around the corner Speiden Island loomed on the horizon, where we found some European Spotted Fallow deer, & Mouflon Sheep from Sicily (imported by John Wayne). It was at this point when we heard there might be some Orca near Cowichan Bay so off we went heading into that general direction…we got ‘the call’ from a friend who indicated confirm info from a BC ferry near Active pass. We arrived on scene a short time later and spent about an hour with the T124s – about 4-5 animals who were traveling slowly NE towards Tumbo Island. The weather here was spectacular with calm seas and sunny skies. Once again we were one of only 2 boats to see Orca this morning.
