At 8:00 am this morning, whales were sighted offshore of Lopez Island heading Southwest. On the morning departure, I decided to travel East over Middle Bank, Hein Bank and Eastern Bank searching for these Orcas !!! After searching South Haro Strait and Eastern Juan de Fuca Strait for nearly 45 minutes I headed over to Whale Rock and Long Island to see all the Steller Sea Lions, Harbour Seals and Bald Eagles. While viewing the animals at Whale Rock, I got a call about a Humpback Whale that was sighted right under Deception Pass Bridge. Within 20 minutes of high speed travel aboard “Serengeti” we were on scene with a juvenile Humpback Whale. The animal was at most 30 feet long (9 meters) and was swimming slowly to the South towards the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station !!!! We got to see the ‘Tail Fluke’ a few times during our visit :) This was my second sighting of a Humpback Whale this season !!!!
