June 8th 10 am whale watching tour: private show :)
Sometimes it is all about timing and making the choice to travel just a bit farther in order to have the best possible experience. There were reports of two groups of whales this morning: a group of 5 whales along San Juan Island, WA, and the rest of J pod over in Rosario Strait (about double the distance). That was an easy choice: go farther with more whales and be one of three boats on scene as we watched several animals, play, feed, echolocate, breach, spy-hop, etc!!!! WOW!!!! Oh, of course we still stopped for an amazing harbour seal show and Bald Eagle at Whale Rocks near Lopez Island, WA, and an active Eagles nest at Long Island…not to mention the harbour porpoise and several species of marine birds we also stopped for along the way. J-26 Mike was putting on quite a show with the Cookie crew: J22 Oreo, J34 Double Stuff, and Cookie J38. J2- granny (101 years old) still kicking it old school leading the charge as they headed for Colville Island after several minutes of feeding along the east side of Rosario Strait. The water flattened out for a very relaxing ride home down the middle of the Juan De Fuca Strait.
