Gray Whale in Boundary Bay
The juvenile Humpback Whale we had this morning was unfortunately lost in the 6-8 foot waves Southwest of Race Rocks around noon today
The only other Whale option for our afternoon tour was to bomb way North to Vancouver into Boundary Bay where people have been seeing a large Gray Whale feeding in the shallows for the past 6 weeks or so. In the end our afternoon tour was 115 miles (185 km) round trip but we had a great visit with the Boundary Bay Gray Whale !!!! On the way to and from Whiterock we stopped at Boiling Reef (East Point) to see some Seals and Sea Lions, John’s Pass for Bald Eagles, Henry Island for a lone Peregrine Falcon and the Chain Islands near Oak Bay to see Seals, Oystercatchers, Cormorants, Pigeon Guillemots and Harlequin Ducks !!! Great day on the ocean
