230: whale watching with hungry Transients!

Well, Canadian whales are always a good idea (100 meters and not 183 for viewing distance). I chose to go straight to the whales in order to view from a shorter distance. This proved to be a wise choice…after being the presence of theses magnificent animals we were about to leave when all to once they went after some prey beneath the surface in 2 different groups. Safe to say that either 2 harbour seals or a porpoise were the dinner this evening. Such an awe inspiring moment watching these creatures being themselves…and comfortable to be themselves in our presence. WOW! We went to Race Rocks from the middle of Haro Strait which was about a 35 minute trek through some mild choppy water. We were greeted by California sea lions, Steller sea lions and once again, for the second trip in a row, treated with the presence of a massive elephant seal. Cool!
