First trip of the year on “Goldwing” this afternoon
Yeah…. After a quick stop in Oak Bay to see Seals and Bald Eagles, we ventured Southeast of Discovery Island towards Eastern Bank and Hein Bank when we got a call about 9 Killer Whales (Transients) near Dungeness Spit Light !!!!! 25 minutes later we arrived on scene with the T10′s, T23′s and the T77′s. 9 Orcas in total, all grouped up into a tight resting pattern as they swam slowly to the North. We spent 45 minutes cruising along with the Whales before we headed off to the West to Race Rocks Lighthouse. At Race Rocks we saw lots of Harbour Seals, Steller Sea Lions, California Sea Lions, Elephant Seals and tons of little Pigeon Guillemots. Perfect conditions on the water today.. Sunny, warm and flat calm water with great views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains !!!!
