Eagle Wing Tours participated with other environmentally aware Victoria businesses today and challenged one another to a ‘Garbage Showdown!!” How much garbage can one business collect in one hour…from high noon until 1pm.

Well…We collected 9,402 pieces of garbage in one hour! Other businesses collected 7,000 pieces, 4,000 pieces, and under 2,000 pieces.  We blew the doors off the competition.

How did we accomplish this?  Have an incredible group of friends & family, and the drive & passion to help keep things clean in Victoria. Each business focused their cleaning efforts around their operation. Eagle Wing Tours divided up into three teams and covered the Victoria waterfront between Ogden Point breakwater and the scenic Clover Point…and everything in between. To be honest an hour was not enough time complete our task. We collected everything from condoms, to cigarette butts, to plastic wrappers, a large lost floating tire , paper scraps, balloons, etc, etc. You get the point.

Each company had to designate a ‘green mascot’ to be present at the awards ceremony.  The characters present today ranged from: ‘garbage man’, ‘green queen’, ‘ninja’, chefs, team colours (groups) & of course Neptune…the Protector of the Ocean.  We thought this was a fitting mascot for us given we spend all of our time out on the ocean observing wildlife and sharing our knowledge and passion with others from all over the world.

We are PROUD to be a part of this like minded group of businesses that care and look forward to next season–>BRING IT ON VICTORIA!!!

We challenge all other local downtown Victoria businesses and the rest of the whale watching industry to show up next season for an even bigger and badder ‘SHOWDOWN’.
