On the afternoon tour we decided to go way out West towards Jordan River. 5 nautical miles South of Sooke Harbour we came across a very playful group of Dall’s Porpoise. For 10 minutes 3-4 Dall’s Porpoise continued to play with our boat as they criss-crossed on our bow and played in our wake !!!! Afterwards, we continued West down the middle of Juan de Fuca Stait until Jordan River where we decided to come into shore. At Secretary Island we found a single Bald Eagle up in the tree and 10-15 Harbour Seals basking in the sun laying on the lower rocks !!! From Secretary we continued East along the shoreline towards the “Trap Shack” where we spotted a River Otter playing in the kelp beds just offshore of the cabin. We followed the little guy for a few minutes before he disappeared into a cave. Very cool to see :) Our tour finished off at Race Rocks where we saw the usual crew of Seals, Sea Lions and Elephant Seals. Another rough day at the office. I love my job !!!!!
